It is with great pleasure that we introduce our new pastor, Reverend Alexander Haines!
Alexander grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
In 2010, he graduated with a degree in Religious Studies & Government from Claremont McKenna College, where he was introduced to Bible Study and encouraged in faith in Intervarsity Christian fellowship.
In 2013, he graduated with a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, completing internships at a hospital in North Dakota, a church in the Adirondack Park, the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations, working at the campus's Writing Center, and hosting a series of “Storytime and Tea” events.
Alexander was ordained in 2013 in the United Church of Christ, a denomination in full communion with the Presbyterian Church (USA), and served Congregational UCC in Huron, a small town in South Dakota.
When he and Rachel, his wife, married, he moved to Standing Rock Reservation, where she was completing a term with Teach for America. There he briefly worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional for math.
He and Rachel have one son, Syver, who recently turned one year old.
Presently, he serves as Associate Pastor of Lutheran Memorial Church, an ELCA congregation in Pierre, SD, and as Pastor of Grace Lutheran, an associated small country church
He has overseen camp ministry as dean of the high school week, written Christian Education curriculum, been a delegate to General Synod, the UCC's national gathering, served on the Conference Board of Directors and on the Committee on Ministry, led his local ministerial association, prayed before the state congress and is part of a selective continuing education program for young clergy, the Next Generation Leadership Initiative.
